National Landing takes indoor-outdoor living to the next level.
Here, parks, trails, and stretches of greenery are integrated seamlessly into city life.
A 2.5-acre urban oasis developed in conjunction with Amazon's HQ2 campus, Met Park is a hub for connection, from yoga classes to outdoor movies. Meandering walking paths here are accented with more than 160 varieties of native plants. Public art installations also enliven the landscape, like a patch of glowing 3-D printed mushrooms constructed by artist Aurora Robson and the Queen City installation by Nekisha Durrett. The playground here even looks like a work of art, with natural play structures incorporated into trees, boulders, and planting beds. Dogs can have fun at Metropolitan Park, too, at two separate dog runs.
Dozens of community events are held here each year, from two weekly farmer’s markets to Met Park Movie Nights to free concert series. Just steps away from Met Park's grass and gardens, find dozens of shops and restaurants where you can run errands, grab coffee (or a smoothie, doughnuts or ice cream), or sit down to a leisurely meal.
National Landing’s watering hole brings the fun of a food hall to the great outdoors. In between the greenery, Water Park is dotted with food kiosks offering a dizzying variety of cuisine — think San Diego-style burritos, sushi rolls, bagels, matcha, and spicy fried chicken sandwiches.
At the center is a stunning infinity fountain that gives Water Park its name. And perched atop the fountain, you'll find Water Bar, a popular spot for cocktails and seafood offering great views from its open-air terrace. No wonder this park is a hot spot for lunch and happy hour. It's also a place where you can take a fitness class or sit in on a guided painting session, alongside a year-long slate of cultural programs and live music.
Playing fields, playgrounds, public art and Potomac River views are just a few of the attractions at Long Bridge Park, which offers more than 30 acres of open space. Runners and walkers will love the nearly ¾-mile long Esplanade, which overlook Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary and the Potomac. You can also get a workout in at the three full-size, lighted playing fields or at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. The scenery here is beautiful, the view of D.C.'s monuments to the backdrop of pink flowers that blooms during cherry blossom season.
At the core of this outdoor anchor of Potomac Yard stands the “Wonder Wander” sculpture by artist Larry Kirkland. The ocular creation looks on as residents and visitors use the park for free outdoor fitness classes, gathering outside after brunch at Social All-Day, and more.
From Long Bridge Park and Water Park, National Landing connects to the paved Mount Vernon Trail, which stretches 18 miles along scenic parkland with views of DC and the Potomac. Head towards George Washington's Mount Vernon in Alexandria, or explore Theodore Roosevelt Island and make your way into the District.
