National Landing’s robust office employment base attracts a highly skilled workforce, including 8,500 Amazon employees who account for 22% of all jobs in the district. The area also has a strong concentration of technology and defense employment, representing 28% of all jobs. As a result, more than 40% of National Landing’s office-using workforce is in occupations that require in-person work. To support these industries, many office buildings are equipped with SCIFs and other specialized spaces designed to meet the needs of mission-critical tenants.
Beyond its office sector, National Landing has thriving hospitality & food service and retail industries that account for 15% of total employment. These sectors diversify the local economy, enhance neighborhood amenities, and help sustain activity throughout the day as office workers more consistently return to the district. Daily employee population, measured from 7 am to 7 pm, has begun to plateau after a 31% increase since 2022.
