Over $5B in Mobility Investments

The nation’s next multimodal hub is on its way, and it’s taking shape in the heart of National Landing. Minutes from downtown Washington, D.C. and anchored within the region’s innovation corridor, National Landing is redefining how people move through a modern urban district. Once an auto-oriented office park, the district has become a proving ground for next-generation urban mobility—and one of the most ambitious examples of human-scaled infrastructure planning in the country.

Backed by more than $5 billion in public infrastructure investment across 20 major projects, National Landing is assembling a mobility network unlike any other. Four transformative efforts—the Long Bridge Project, the CC2DCA Multimodal Connector, a new VRE station, and the Alexandria Fourth Track—will deliver unprecedented access across rail, road, air, and trail.

BID Priority Projects

Understand the National Landing BID's priority projects, from the infrastructure investments that make our streets safer to the advocacy work that secures resources to keep this place growing in the right direction.

CC2DCA

Crystal City to Reagan National Airport Multimodal Connection (CC2DCA) will link Crystal City's main street to Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) with a 5-minute walk. The first pedestrian bridge to connect a major airport to a downtown "main street," CC2DCA will unlock access to the new Virginia Railway Express (VRE) National Landing station, Amtrak and the Mount Vernon Trail. This once-in-a-generation infrastructure project will define National Landing’s identity for years to come.

Reimagine Route 1

Reimagine Route 1 aims to start the conversation about the bold vision to transform Route 1 into a multi-modal, pedestrian-friendly, and urban-oriented boulevard that unifies the area into a truly walkable, connected, urban downtown. The concepts in the report draw upon national best practices in "complete streets" design and highway-to-boulevard conversions.
